The ice on rue Martial Bergeal in Égletons (central-southern France) is now a thing of the past thanks to the Power Road® system! It started up on 21 December last, just before a snowy spell, and showed that it worked throughout January 2021.
This Power Road® project is part of Égletons’s “fifth generation roads” programme, and mirror the town’s strong commitment to sustainable development.
Connected to the heating network, Power Road® is securing 120 metres of road surrounded by construction and civil engineering schools and universities (a university institute of technology, a public works school and a secondary school). The road has built-in temperature probes, a camera and a snow detector, the system removes snow automatically, and it can be remote-controlled.
And the students and teachers in the schools alongside it have a real-life, trailblazing case to study.
This Power Road® was inaugurated on 14 January 2021, at a ceremony attended by the president of the department of Corrèze Pascal Coste, the deputy prefect of Ussel Yann Le Brun, and the mayor of Égletons Charles Ferré.
