Winter is approaching – along with the prospect of rising energy bills. But there are solutions at Eurovia to save resources!
On World Energy Day, we shine a spotlight on a road that captures heat in summer and uses it to melt snow and ice in winter. It’s in Quebec and it’s the first Power Road® project in North America.
The system is on the Eurovia branch’s car park in Bromont and started up in March 2021. It spans 310 sq. metres of parking space and 15 sq. metres of pavement.
From April to October, it captured 40 MWh and released 6 MWh to air-condition 300 sq. metres of buildings and charge the array of sensors at the site!
The challenge this winter is to capture 65 MWh in order to cover the heating requirements forecast by our experts – who are always on the lookout for smarter ways of preserving resources.
